A surf rash guard has one job under the sun and another under the board, and both are decided at the seam and the weave rather than at the artwork.

The UPF number we quote is the tested rating, with the honest note most suppliers skip: protection comes from weave density, and fabric stretched over shoulders opens up. A guard rated relaxed is not the same garment on a paddling back, so we specify fabric that holds its rating stretched and wet.

Seams are flatlocked and routed away from the chest and underarm, because a raised seam under board contact recreates the rash the garment exists to prevent. The print is dye sublimation through the fibre — salt and wax strip anything that sits on the surface.
